Volunteer

Lend a hand, make a friend

120 volunteers keep Pawhaven walking, socializing and smiling. Join them for a shift a week or a day a month.

Ways to volunteer

Dog walker

Take dogs out for fresh air and gentle training. No experience needed; we show you how.

Kitten socializer

Spend time with kittens and shy cats to help them become people-friendly.

Event crew

Help set up, greet visitors and run the table at adoption days.

Photo and writing

Take portraits for the pet finder and help write the stories behind each pet.

Getting started

Training, then your first shift

New volunteers attend a 90-minute orientation, shadow an experienced volunteer, and pick the days that suit them.

Orientation on the first Saturday of every month

Volunteers are 16 and over; younger helpers join with an adult

Shifts are 2 hours, mornings or evenings

Flexible: swap or skip a shift whenever you need
